Monster Girl #1

This came out of a fast sketch, she's some kind of ass-kickin demon girl. I think she may have a little too much goin' on- but sometimes that's just part of the fun!

HOT CATS!

I don't have any knid of name made up for these, so here are a couple of cat-like living rocks that are of an abnormally high surface temperature! Whew! Just a rough concept of what I want these guys to look like, I'm gonna continue fiddling with them for a while, I think.

WEAPONS

Back when I played WoW, I rolled a hunter (Horde, of course) and got very attached to my bow and 1-handed axes. So I designed these a while back in memoriam of my Warcraftin' days.
although the new panda expansion looks pretty tempting...

Ponies 2: Electric Boogaloo

How could you ever go wrong with more ponies? I don't think it's possible, so here are more Scrubhorses, I'll probably do even more later, since I'm trying to reference a wide array of flora for different varieties of these little guys.

Ponies!

Aw yea ponies! Or, rather, small earthen horses with inherent magical properties. Just some ideas for a fictional world I'm slowly developing- also an excuse to draw small, fat horses.

Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?

Hm, trying something a little different- this is a mock up for an imaginary children's book cover about the Big Bad Wolf, who has always been my favorite trope in fairy tales and folklore. Not overly thrilled with the font, I'll have to consult my more graphic-savy comrades about that..

02 July 2012

Trying to get into the habit of doing some fast little studies every other day, so here's some ROCKS WHOA!! Haha, next time I'll group 'em up so there's more to see.

COLOR AND CATS

BEHOLD THE CAT-BOT.

CATS AND ROBOTS

This here is the final for my hard edge modeling assignment, a cat in a mecha suit! Look upon his cute, fat face and TREMBLE IN FEAR. But really- I learned a lot from this assignment- mainly not to make extractions from geometry at high subdivision levels. Here are a few other lessons learned:
  1.  Morph targets and layers are priceless necessities handed down from the gods
  2. I need to streamline my workflow for this program
  3. Rendering and posing still make me want to crawl under a rock and die
And as long as I have learned something, then I suppose progress is being made.

Second sculpt: sketchin!

Here's the sketch I'm going with- nothing too complex, but I think he'll be fun to sculpt.

Tribal assignment: Image Board

Trying to get everything set up for our new assignment, which is sculpting a tribal-themed character in an animation style. Here's what I'm thinkin so far-

Love the patterns and intense colors of the two ladies, and the practicality of the mountain nomads!
I'm also trying to consider the environment my little duder is gonna be living in, because that'll effect how he dresses. And since we're supposed to be using minimal clothing elements- I figure a kind of island chain ecosystem would be cool, coz you've got mountains, volcanic activity, and a pretty diverse system of Flora and Fauna- but it's usually warm enough to warrant not wearing a shirt nor shoes.

Also I decided not to give my character a weapon- I see a lot of tribal-esqe characters with clubs and spears and weapons, and bleh, kinda bored with that.

I think he'll have a rad fishing pole or some sporting equipment :D

Some early working shots- lookit this guy's ugly mug!

And a few more progress shots...

All done! well not entirely, still needs some touching up paint-wise and one more section for his little feets. but we're pretty close c;
